Every home has them. Unwanted chemical products stored in the house, garage or garden shed. Gather them up, load them safely into your car and take them to the right Detox drop off location.

Unwanted chemicals may harm the environment when your pour them down the sink or put them in the rubbish bin. Detox Your Home allows you to dispose of these chemicals safely and responsibly.


LOCAL DROP OFF DAY 27 APRIL 2013

Golden Plains Shire and Moorabool Shire residents took advantage of a free service to safely dispose of old cleaning products, left-over paint, dead batteries and weed killer stored around the home - without putting a strain on the environment.

Detox your Home is a service provided by the Victorian Coalition Government to collect potentially dangerous and unwanted household chemical products. The service is funded by the Victorian landfill levy and administered by Sustainability Victoria in partnership with Local Government.

GOLDEN PLAINS SHIRE the drop day was well supported by residents, the main materials collected were Paint (55.5%), Batteries (5.5%) ,Gas Cylinders (2%) and Oil (6%) totaling 69%.

MOORABOOL SHIRE the drop off day was also well supported, material collected was Paint (56%), Batteries (9.5%) ,Gas Cylinders (4%) and Oil (3.5%) totaling 73%.

Household chemicals can be dangerous if they are not disposed of safely. Storing old chemicals in the shed or under the sink increases the risk of poisoning around the home.They can harm your family and pets, add extra fuel to a house fire and release toxic fumes which can be dangerous.
