How often do you drive along the Western Highway and remark on the amount of litter on the side of the road? A Lot!! Desert Fringe, Grampians and Highlands Regional Waste Management Groups together with VicRoads are proud to be a recipient of $37,000 from the Australian Packaging Covenant to conduct a roadside litter prevention campaign between Bacchus Marsh and the Vic/SA border that aims to reduce roadside litter by 30% along the Western Highway.

The Australian Packaging Covenant is a unique Australian initiative between governments, industry and community groups to divert packaging waste from landfill. This project is one of 80 which the Covenant funds across Australia, worth a combined total of $47 million, to find better ways to make packaging sustainable.
