Motor Oil

YOU ARE IN: Home > Recyclable Products > Motor Oil

Oil is a valuable resource and can be easily recycled at safe oil disposal points at selected council Resource Recovery Centres (transfer stations) across Victoria

Dispose of used oil correctly

Used motor oil can be hazardous, toxic, carcinogenic and harmful to the environment. It's also poisonous if swallowed or inhaled and can be a fire hazard unless properly stored.

Take your used oil to a collection facility

Pour your used motor oil into an empty oil container and take it to your local used oil collection facility. This will usually be at the Resource Recovery Centre. Contact your local council for facility details. You'll be helping to conserve a valuable resource and protecting the environment. The oil will be cleaned and reused, reducing demand for this non-renewable resource.

In the Highlands Region, motor oil can be recycled at

  • Ballarat Resource Recovery Centre, Gillies Street.

Dispose of the containers correctly

Drop off used oil containers at selected Resource Recovery Centres for recycling. The used oil collection point will have details of the container collection system. All containers must be drained of excess oil.
